There are those who scratch and know – knew always? – but for those who do not, are unsure or perhaps only curious... Great majority of the time the amount of data a company must deal with will be the deciding variable. Data which goes through various stages and states often without user interaction and/or with user not being aware of that. Data will travel, roam the network, will be read, digested & processed. Data can produce more data, yess.. ! can multiply, certainly can render new meta-data. All that data need storage to reside in, need to be available 24/7, data need archiving systems when it go to rest.
